TURKEY

Cappadocia is a picture drawn on the earth by nature, it is a poem.

Steeped in tradition and a masterpiece of nature, Turkey will undoubtedly impress you. With more ancient ruins than Greece or Italy, Turkey lets you get up close to living history. Our holiday begins in the South Aegean, staying at the PINE MARINA HOTEL in Kusadasi. This location was expressly chosen to showcase the best of the area including Sirince and the Dilek Peninsula. We will also visit Ephesus, once the Roman capital of Asia Minor, today is the best preserved classical city in Turkey. Its amphitheatre, capable of seating 25,000, is still used for concerts today! Then, heading inland, we spend time in Cappadocia and hike amid fairy chimneys and pigeon houses - a landscape crafted by wind and rain, the fertile soil giving rise to orchards and vineyards. During Roman and Byzantine times, Cappadocia became a refuge for early Christians. To escape persecution and protect their identity, they built underground cities (some as deep as 8-storeys) and worshipped in secret churches carved into the volcanic tuff. These churches are filled with ancient frescoes and today are ours to explore. Our accommodation in Cappadocia is the uniquely designed BURCU KAYA HOTEL in Ortahisar, and a balloon ride over Göreme is a must! Our holiday will conclude in Istanbul, the only city in the world to straddle both Europe and Asia. The GALATA ANEMON HOTEL is the perfect starting point for our visits to the Blue Mosque, the glorious Aya Sofya and the opulent Topkapi Palace. Of course, there will be plenty of time to visit the Egyptian bazaar for sweet lokum, saffron and a little apple tea to bring home to your friends.
