THAILAND

Set within a lush tropical landscape, Thailand is a theatre of cultural and sensual contrasts. The long rich heritage and abundant natural resources of this proud Buddhist nation make it most compelling…

"Sa wad dee" and welcome to Thailand. Our program was carefully crafted to offer you not only a memorable hiking holiday but a true Thai cultural experience as well. Long considered an Asian oasis, Thailand is an inspiration with its serene hiking trails, glittering Buddhist temples and abundance of colourful fruits and flowers. We begin in Kanchanaburi Province (Pung Waan Kwai Yai Resort) to visit the Bridge over the River Kwai as well as hike in two of Thailand's renown national parks, complete with 7-tiered waterfalls and lush rainforest. Then we journey north into the more rural areas of Chiang Rai (MAE KOK RIVER VILLAGE RESORT) and Chiang Mai (ROYAL PRINCESS HOTEL), where we shall trek past fields of coriander, clamber through darkened caves, as well as visit Akha and Lisu hill tribe villages to learn the special customs of its people. Finally, we will go to the lively city of Bangkok (ARNOMA HOTEL) where we tour the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, plus Wat Pho to see the largest reclining Buddha statue in the world. This trip features all 4-star accommodations and lots of unique experiences. We'll use many different modes of transportation (from long-tail boats to songthaews and even a bamboo raft ride), we shall try fresh and flavourful new dishes, and we will take part in a traditional lantern ceremony. But one of the most unique experiences is a special visit to an elephant sanctuary - not only will we get to meet and learn about these magnificent animals up close, but we will even get in the river and bathe them!
