THAILAND

Set within a lush tropical landscape, Thailand is a theatre of cultural and sensual contrasts. The long rich heritage and abundant natural resources of this proud Buddhist nation make it most compelling…

“Sa wad dee” and welcome to Thailand. Our program was carefully crafted to offer you not only a memorable hiking holiday but a true Thai cultural experience as well. Long considered an Asian oasis, Thailand is an inspiration with its serene hiking trails, glittering Buddhist temples and abundance of colourful fruits and flowers. Our journey begins in the lively city of Bangkok (ARNOMA HOTEL) where we shall visit the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, plus Wat Pho to see the largest reclining Buddha statue in the world. Bangkok’s floating market is another must-see part of the program (anyone dares try the durian?). Then we travel to Kanchanaburi (PUNG WAAN KWAI YAI RESORT) to the renown Bridge over the River Kwai where we shall pay our respects before journeying north into the prime hiking territories of Chiang Rai (MAE KOK RIVER VILLAGE RESORT) and Chiang Mai (ROYAL PRINCESS HOTEL). We shall trek through darkened caves and bamboo forests, and visit Akha and Lisu hill tribe villages to learn the special customs of its people. We will also experience a ride on a long-tail boat and even a bamboo raft ride. One of the most unique experiences on this trip will a special visit to an elephant sanctuary - not only will we get to meet and learn about these majestic animals up close, but we will even get in the river and bathe them!
