CUBA
Christopher Columbus, on first seeing Cuba, wrote, "Never have human eyes beheld anything so beautiful."
Cuba is famous for its nearly 300 attractive beaches, but it has far more to offer the traveler than sea, sand and sunshine. The landscape of this island, the largest in the Caribbean, is a mixture of lush mountains, rolling hills, jungle-like forests and flat plains which produce sugar, tobacco and a vast array of tropical fruit and vegetables. Picturesque colonial towns, enchanting art, music and people help make this the "Pearl of the Antilles". Our itinerary will feature hikes, both half and full day, in the Vinales, Las Terrazas and Topes de Collantes areas, as well as a visit to the historic town of Trinidad. We'll swim in the San Juan River pools and have lunch in a coffee plantation. Before heading back to Havana, we'll spend a relaxing day at Varadero Beach, renown for its silky sand beaches and aquamarine waters. The last 2 days are in the capital of Havana where we take a guided walking tour of the old city, watch the "Firing of the Cannon" ceremony and enjoy a farewell lunch at a country club. We'll stay at SEVERAL DIFFERENT HOTELS (most of them have a pool) and travel around by chartered air-conditioned bus.
